Like any human interaction it has its good and bad members. But all in all most “real Jeepers” are great people. Wheeling is way more than just driving. It is observing nature, waterfalls, streams, sunrise and sunset across some of the most beautiful scenery in the USA that most people with never see.

Wheeling, like everything good comes with responsibilities and challenges. Extremists and irresponsible people threaten our opportunity to enjoy the great experiences that wheeling affords us. We all must be good stewards of our surroundings in order to assure its availability for ourselves and those that follow. I belong to Tread Lightly. Tread Lightly promotes low impact wheeling and helps educate people how to enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities while protection the areas where we play at the same time. There are a lot of thoughtless people out there, some of whom wheel. Dumping, setting fires without permits, winching without tree saver straps, alcohol on the trail, littering and more give fuel to those who would take away our right to wheel. We all have a responsibility to police our environment. Remember, there are numerous very well funded groups that are misguided and single-mindedly driven to end wheeling forever. They have seen the idiots among us and have decided that they are us and therefore we need to be stopped. Wheeling will only survive as a legal hobby / sport if we police ourselves, educate everyone and demonstrate to our detractors that we deserve to enjoy our hobby just like they do theirs.
